Nikon LS 2000 Normal and 16x Sampling Comparison
Kodachrome 25 slide original

These two examples are screen captures from full resolution scans. The original image is from my Vermilion Lakes photo. The top example is the normal 1x sampling from the Nikon LS2000.  The bottom photo used the LS2000's 16X sampling. Look in the center of the image where the evergreen trees are in deep shadow. Notice that very small amount of grainy looking speckle shadow noise in the top 1X scan is almost completely gone in the 16X version. You can also see some speckle noise in the greenish background color near the top of the 1X scanned image.
